For the past week both Audrey and I have been recovering from a very long day last Sunday. We had Audrey's Baby Dedication at my parents church in the evening with a dinner reception following. Poor Audrey was rather fussy most of the day and it only got worse as the night went on. We ended up getting home sometime close to midnight and she was very tired. She only slept on and off the entire evening with all the commotion around her. Monday was especially grueling as she tried to settle back into a schedule. Things are definitely better now and I can finally come back and write a bit about how everything went. I tried to post a better picture but she wasn't up for many photos so I put up separate pictures of the dress so you can see how adorable it was. My mother bought it for her. She has great taste in baby girl clothes. She did have five girls herself!

The night was great and reminded me how nice it is to have others pray for your baby and reminded me that I need to pray for her, not only now as a baby, but for all that life will hold for her in the future. Knowing that God is watching over her and has a plan for her life is a huge comfort through the daily struggles.

I have also been recovering from the exhaustion of the day and now that we are both back in the swing of things, I can share with you a fun little project I tried- Fabric flowers. They're actually pretty easy to make and I'm looking forward to adorning many more things in my closet... and Audrey's =)

For all those of you who have waited patiently in hopes of discovering if I was able to collect mounds and mounds of gorgeous fall-colored leaves to surround my lovely vase and make my table-scape breathtaking.... I was not. Here is the story.

I really thought about how impressive my little bit of Fall decor would look after a collection of such sorts and as my mind was fixed on this lovely vision, logistics set in. I suddenly envisioned myself wandering about the neighborhood, hand-woven basket in tow (Initially I pictured myself carrying a garbage bag but no self-respecting leaf collector would carry a garbage bag. She would certainly look crazy. Instead a lovely basket would do the trick. Now I look crazy but stylish...and really, isn't that the goal?). And as I walked...or rather skipped, because in this vision my beautiful daughter was sleeping peacefully while my super-handsome husband was in the kitchen whipping up a delicious three-course meal and this of course made me happy, I found myself spotting a lovely blood-orange leaf just lying on the floor and walked over to pick it up. Or I started to pick it up until what should appear on the this leaf but the vilest and most disgusting of creatures....the ladybug! Yes, you heard me correctly. My little home is filled with these abhorrent fiends of the underworld. I let them be for now as they have resolved to remain in the upper corners of my home where I cannot reach them. Sometimes I find them on the floor and take great pleasure in crushing and disposing of them yet those are merely carcasses- filthy little things. But back to my story. Now as I spotted the unwelcome creature I suddenly pictured the beautiful mound of leaves on my table giving way to a mound of insects staring at me with their beady little eyes almost as if to say "We have won! We have succeeded in taking over your home and now we will take our revenge on you and your beautiful daughter and super-handsome husband." So of course, as you can imagine, I could not allow that to happen. And this unfortunately means no beautiful mounds. I shall resort to simply staring at lovely pictures through my computer instead.

Fall Decor

I thought I'd take today to share my very little bit of Fall decor I have finally put up, now that we are already in November and I should start thinking about Christmas. But I don't put up Christmas decorations until December so I still have a few weeks to enjoy it. Actually my branches could stay up in December and work with the winter decor. They already have little red berries on them so hopefully they won't dry up on me. I just broke it off the tree we have in our backyard. (It's shared with our neighbors and their side had more berries but I thought stealing their branches might put a rift in the relationship, so I resisted.....maybe when they're not home) I also just picked some leaves when Ovi, Audrey and I were taking a walk. If I get a chance I think I will pick some more. The picture looks like it's missing something. Wouldn't a huge mound of leaves around the vase look prettier? Hmmm.....

Stay tuned to see if I finally get the chance to pick more leaves and complete my decor........(suspenseful music plays)

(suspenseful music stops)

(polka music plays)

(...........wait, where did that come from?)

(suspenseful music plays again).... Until next time.

Happy 2 Month Birthday Audrey!

My beautiful little girl is 2 months old today. Ah, they grow up so fast. Check out her hip high-waisted pants :) She is smiling more and can follow objects in front of her. She coos and holds her head up for small periods of time. I never thought the first two months would go so fast. Seriously, every week felt like a year that first month, but here we are. I feel I am finally getting the hang of this motherhood thing. There are still many things I don't know but I now have confidence that I can do this and with God's help, I will.

Here's another cute picture. I just can't help myself.

P.S. I am working on the garland I mentioned in yesterday's post. I'm finding it takes a lot longer to finish a project with a newborn at home but it's going well so hopefully soon, I will be able to show you all the finished project.

Welcome to the launch, or re-launch rather, of my blog. Above you will see a picture of the reason why I have been so behind in posting anything- my beautiful baby girl, Audrey. Isn't she adorable? Look at those cheeks....and eyes. She has my husband's eyes......Wait, where was I? Oh yes, my Grand Reopening! I decided it would be better for me to begin anew with my pursuit of keeping a blog and try to incorporate all of the things I love. Where my previous blog centered on fashion, this one will incorporate all things creative and lovely.

The chill in the air has gotten me thinking about the upcoming holidays and how I can decorate my little home and what gifts I can give this Christmas. I have been reading many diy/decorating blogs and am filled with fun ideas that I would like to share with you.

The first thing I'd like to try is a garland for the Christmas tree. I recently read a post on about a new line at West Elm by David Stark filled with decorations that all look very handmade and I thought, “I can make that”. So that is exactly what I shall do. I'll let you know how the progression goes.

Stayed tuned for posts about Audrey and her birth. She was born on September 6th. Yep, I was in labor on Labor Day. Isn't God funny?
